"On Election Day in 1920, millions of American women exercised their right to vote for the first time. It took activists and reformers nearly 100 years to win that right, and the campaign was not easy: Disagreements over strategy threatened to cripple the movement more than once. But on August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was finally ratified, enfranchising all American women and declaring for the first time that they, like men, deserve all the rights and responsibilities of citizenship."

Many Woman in America today are feminists. They believe that woman should have the same rights as men and that anything a man can do like go to war, be a CEO, work in construction, and being a lawyer a women can do also and better. Unlike this new generation of feminists, I have developed my own feelings towards this issue that goes against it all. I believe that woman should not have the same "rights" as a man.
In the Bible, the men were the head of the household, and though women did oversee a lot that went on in the household while the male was away to war, they really had no power. The man was in charge of making family decisions. Now with that said, if he loved his wife he could ask for her opinion, and weigh her opinion when making his decisions but all matters ended with him. Shouldn't voting be the same way? A family should be tight knitted and the male opinion should be the opinion of the whole family. Why then is it necessary for woman to have their chance to vote? Part of being a good wife is submitting to authority. And the Bible says that Men have Authority and Women have Power. So if every woman submitted to her husband and voted for the people their husbands voted for then that wouldn't help either party. The parties would have 2x the work to count the Votes and 2x for either side. Woman need to stop taking the mans role in life and start letting the men be men. I for one am tired of woman saying they can do it by themselves. Yes, I believe they can do it by themselves, but it is and will always be the mans job. By D'Adriana C. |
