In This Speech, Woodrow Wilson is addresses an issue that has been angering the working class, the fact that the government is hypothetically "in bed" with the employers. He starts off by saying that politics were made so that everyone can come together on common grounds so that each party can be accommodated. He talks about how he has done some research into this problem and can only see one solution, making minimum wage not just for woman, but every worker. By doing this, the employer can be as stingy as he wants and not give his workers raises without it completely devastating the employees life. But Wilson thinks that putting this l;aw in place would give the government too much power.

Theodore Roosevelt starts off his speech by talking about all the difference between Wilson and his opinion. "Mr. Wilson stated his position when he said that the history of government, the history of liberty, was the history of the limitation of governmental power." He goes into depth about how In England, this would be true, but since America is not a monarchy, but in a democracy, people have all the power and can use that power to their advantage. He goes into saying that Wilson is not really for the working class, but for the employers who oppress the workers.
